Saint Polycarp - February 23

Saint Polycarp was a disciple of Saint John the Evangelist, the beloved Apostle of Jesus Christ. It was Saint John who built the House in Ephesus for our Blessed Mother Mary: Mary's House. Both of these saints, Saint John and Saint Polycarp, are so special to us as we pray for the opening of the cause for the beatification of Sister Marie. Saint Polycarp was part of the second generation of Church leaders who had listened to first hand accounts of the life and Good News of Jesus Christ Our Savior. He was made Bishop of Smyrna in what we now call Turkey. This of course includes the entire area of Ephesus and the mountain on which Mary's House was built. Let us ask Saint Polycarp to bless our efforts to give glory to God and to His Mother as we seek to bring rightful recognition to Mary's House and its Foundress, Sister Marie.

Saint Polycarp died a Martyrs death on February 23 in the year 156.

Saint Polycarp, please pray for us the year 2010 especially this day as we celebrate your Martyrs Crown and triumphant entrance into glory. Please obtain from God the opening of the cause for the beatification of Sister Marie.
