Theotokos: Mary, Mother of God - Council of Ephesus 431 AD

The Pope gave a speech last week on Mary as the Theotokos, Mother of God, as so
pronounced at the Council of Ephesus in 431 A.D.
.
Ephesus, Turkey is where we are blessed to still treasure Mary's House, the last home of Mary, Mother of God. For this treasure we thank God and its Foundress Sister Marie deMandat-Grancey who spent her life in service to the Mother of God and her little house in Ephesus from its discovery in 1891 until her death in 1915.

Introduction to the speech:

Following a reading of prayers for the Third Hour, Pope Benedict addressed the bishops assembled in Rome for the First general congregation of the Special Assembly for the Middle East of the Synod of Bishops. These represented Catholic bishops, including those of the Maronite, Melkite, Coptic, and Assyrian rites.
