Advent Reflection with Sister Marie

~Mary's House is a physical manifestation
of Mary's Heart, here and now...
our sure refuge, our sure way to God. ~

How often I have written and spoken this inspiration of the Holy Spirit.  As Foundress of Mary's House, Sister Marie points the way; a sure and simple way, spiritually entering Mary's House as consecration to Mary's Heart.  This is a sure way to God.  In this holy and expectant season of Advent perhaps we can meditate on this in a new way.

As a people of God we pray in this season Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!  We prepare our hearts to welcome the Little Lord Jesus, the stone that the builders rejected who becomes our "cornerstone."  In our Sister Marie prayer we pray the scriptural words "Around this Cornerstone we build our faith and powers of darkness will not prevail."

This symbolic imagery of stones is beautifully manifested in Mary's House built of stone.  This Advent let us pray that our prepared hearts will join to become a wall of living stones to fortify the refuge of Mary's House, Mary's Heart.  May our little "fiats" echo the perfect Fiat that once brought us The Cornerstone and may Our Lady gather all of us, living stones, around her warm hearth in her house and teach us how to be like her Son, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Let us pray that God will raise up Sister Marie to the Altar of Saints so she may continue in heaven what she began on earth, to encourage us to strive after the things of heaven, and to point all God's children to Mary.  Like Sister Marie, let us trust Our Lady's intercession as a sure way to bring us to God as she did with this prayer written as a little child:

"Give me the grace, O my God, to completely detach myself from the things here below and to aspire only to heaven.  O holy Virgin, my good patroness, intercede for me before God so that He will answer my prayer, because then I would have the most sure way of coming to Him and of being eternally happy.  Amen."

"The people in darkness have seen a great light." (Isaiah 9:2)  Let us follow the guiding star of Sister Marie in this simple and sure way to Baby Jesus through His Mother Mary, and there kneel to adore Him with our hearts prepared by Mary's Heart.  Let us fortify the walls of Mary's House with the living stones of our hearts and a be a refuge for the Christ Child and for all God's children who enter in need of Christ's peace, hope and love.
