St. Nicholas

Below find a link to an article that I find very interesting. I had never heard about St. Nicholas being the Patron Saint of New York City, but I'm certainly glad he is! Recalling 9/11, God grant that he and Sr. Marie, fast becoming an intercessor for those who fear religious violence, may join forces to protect our city from any further harm.

excerpt from the above article "How St. Nicholas Became Santa Claus":

"According to the Saint Nicholas Center Web site, after the American Revolution, New Yorkers were looking to break with British tradition, and they remembered with pride the colony's nearly-forgotten Dutch roots. John Pintard, an influential patriot who founded the New York Historical Society in 1804, promoted St. Nicholas as the patron saint of both the society and the city."
