St. Francis, Sister Marie, Horses, and Peace

One of my daughters is praying very hard to St. Francis today. She is struggling to balance her leg action with her rein tension on her horse. It's an issue of balance and communication. I love that I can remind her of the help of the Saints. She just texted me from her bus on the way to school with an idea she has about improving her ride. I texted back about asking St. Frances to help. Her response: "Awesome idea!!! KK, I will." I am certain that St. Francis will come through for her.

Did you know that Sister Marie was an excellent horsewoman? While visiting the Chateau Grancey a few years back I was amazed at the beautiful stables, among other things, and pictured Sister Marie taking care of and riding her horses as a young girl. This was of sweet appeal to my girls. We knew just who to go to for help finding their horses. We prayed to Sister Marie every day. She came through in a big way for us. Their horses are very special and the healthy (exhausting!...yeah!)focus of riding in their teen life is a very good thing!

The Saints, like any good friend, want to be involved in the little things in our life like girls with their horses. They are also there for the big issues of life...like peace in the world. What two Saints could be better partners assisting the world in the pursuit of peace than St. Francis and Sister Marie? St. Francis teaches us to become channels of the Peace of Christ which surpasses all understanding to every one we meet. Sister Marie gives us a practical and sure way to achieve it....the common ground of Mary's House, a symbol of Mary's Heart. Entering Mary's House in prayer is a physical manifestation of a spiritual consecration. We are safe in Mary's Heart. She will see to our temporal and spiritual needs and bring us to her Son the source of all peace. This truly is our hope for peace.

St. Francis teaches us to preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words. Sister Marie points us to Mary's House and teaches us to go to Mary, Mother of the Prince of Peace. Doing this we do preach the Gospel with our actions...quietly, peacefully. We have nothing to fear with the friendship of these two Saints...and if we pray and have faith.
.
Please pray today with St. Francis and Sister Marie for peace between peoples, especially those of different faiths.
