The Cornerstone

The word "cornerstone" is mentioned twice on the Sr. Marie prayer card. Have you wondered about this? We know that Jesus, St. Peter, and even all the Apostles are referred to as cornerstones in the spirituality of our Church. But what has cornerstone to do with Sister Marie?

When Sister Marie took charge of promoting, protecting and developing Meryem Ana Evi (The House of Mary), her family who provided the means for this endeavor, was rewarded the original first century cornerstone of Mary's House! The authorities at Izmir sent it to Sr. Marie's family who still cherishes it to this day where it rests in the family Chapel in France.

As I meditate on this and it's connection to our prayers for peace between religions in the world, it seems particularly relevant to pray "Around this cornerstone we build our faith and the powers of darkness will not prevail."

Below find a link to a 16 page biographical booklet on the life of Sr. Marie where you can view this actual cornerstone.
